Terms
The terms we work under.
These are the website and quote-process terms. The booking contract — the document that governs a confirmed move — is supplied separately as part of the written quote and takes precedence on its specific clauses.
About this website
This website is published by Forge Removals (forgeremovals.co.uk). Using the site or submitting an enquiry through it means you accept the terms below. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
Quote requests
Submitting a brief through the quote form starts an enquiry — not a contract. After we receive it, a surveyor will be in touch promptly to arrange a visit. Following the survey, you will receive a written quote. A booking is created only when you accept the written quote and we confirm the move date back to you in writing.
Quotes remain valid for thirty days from issue unless we specify otherwise in writing. After that point the quote may be re-priced if input costs (fuel, materials, route) have changed materially.
The booking contract
On acceptance of a quote, we issue a booking contract that governs the move itself. It covers payment, deposits, cancellation, refunds, liability, claims and the limit of our responsibility for items in transit and in storage. Key contract durations include:
- A fourteen-day window during which you may cancel for any reason and receive a full deposit refund (unless the move date falls within that window).
- A seven-day window after delivery during which any claim for missing or damaged items must be reported in writing, supported by the closing-off condition sign-off.
- A payment deadline of seven days from the date of the booking invoice, with the balance due before pickup.
These contract durations are legally specific because they need to be. They are mirrored here only for awareness — the booking contract is the authoritative document.
Pricing and changes
The written quote is the price you pay. We do not add charges for blankets, tape, fuel surcharges or out-of-hours windows that should have been priced in at the start. The only circumstances in which a quote can be adjusted after acceptance are: (a) you ask us to add work that was not in the original brief, (b) the contents materially exceed the manifest the surveyor recorded, or (c) access conditions at pickup or destination have changed since the survey. Any such adjustment will be discussed with you before being applied.
Liability
Forge Removals carries insurance appropriate to the moves we run. The booking contract sets out the limit and exclusions. Items of unusual value (antiques, art, jewellery, instruments above standard threshold) should be declared in the brief so that we can arrange specialist cover; declared values that have not been disclosed pre-move cannot be reflected in a claim.
Customs and international moves
For international moves, you will be asked to provide accurate inventory and personal documentation required by the destination country's customs authority. Forge Removals lodges the customs paperwork on your behalf, but the underlying responsibility for accuracy of the declaration sits with you as the owner of the goods.
