International removals

International Removals from the UK.

Considered European moves to France, Italy, Spain and Portugal — the four countries Forge crews run regularly. We dispatch from whichever UK depot makes the route work, and we lodge the customs paperwork properly so the load travels with documents in place.

Our European scope

Four countries, properly run.

Most national removals brands list every country they can fit on a map. We do not. France, Italy, Spain and Portugal are the four routes we run frequently enough to know the customs idiosyncrasies, the rural-access realities, and the seasonal patterns that decide whether a move arrives well or arrives stressed.

If your move is to one of these four, you are reading the right page. If it is to Germany, Switzerland, the Nordics or further afield, we will tell you so and recommend a firm that genuinely runs that route. That is the considered version of the trade.

Pickup origins

National UK pickup — moving from any major city to Europe.

Forge dispatches from whichever depot serves your pickup. The route does not need to start in London. We regularly run international loads picked up from:

  • Removals from London to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal
  • Removals from Manchester to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal
  • Removals from Birmingham to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal
  • Removals from Leeds to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal
  • Removals from Bristol to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal
  • Removals from Glasgow to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal
  • Removals from Edinburgh to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal
  • Removals from Liverpool to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal
  • Removals from Sheffield to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal
  • Removals from Newcastle to France · Italy · Spain · Portugal

How an international move runs

Customs paperwork lodged before the load moves.

The single biggest difference between a considered European move and a rushed one is whether the customs paperwork is ready when the van leaves the UK. We lodge it ahead. The manifest you sign matches what is in the load. The condition of each piece is documented at the pickup, and again at the destination, against the same inventory.

  1. Survey at the UK property

A surveyor visits, lists what is moving, photographs anything of particular value, and writes the brief.

  2. Written quote with the manifest

The quote includes the manifest — the line-by-line list that becomes the customs declaration. You sign off both at the same time.

  3. Customs lodged in advance

Export paperwork is filed with HMRC and the destination authority before pickup. The load travels with documents in hand.

  4. Packed, wrapped, loaded to plan

Materials matched to the items. Van loaded heavy at the bulkhead, fragile high and tied, route-order at the back.

  5. Crewed or paired delivery

The same Forge crew unloads where the route makes sense; on longer routes a vetted partner crew takes over for the last leg.

  6. Condition signed off

Inventory re-checked, condition reviewed, paperwork closed. The move finishes the way it started — properly.

Send the brief and we'll arrange a UK survey at the pickup property. The written quote includes the route, the manifest and the customs handling — everything in one document.
